They are rules meant to guide united states each and every day - but like the rules that your parents make for how things should be washed (or not done) in your homes. I remember when I was younger that my Female parent and my Father had a lot of rules. I was told to take out the garbage every day, that I shouldn't talk back to your elders, that I wasn't to be mean to my sisters, that I was to be polite to everybody, and that I had to practice some homework every night during the school year. What kind of rules are there in your house?? I don't know about you, but when I was your age I oft questioned the rules... Why do I have to accept out the trash? Why exercise I e'er have to do what you say? It'due south non off-white, etc... Do y'all do that? Question them? What kind of answer practise y'all become??? Sometimes I was given reasons for the rules that I had, but those reasons sometimes didn't satisfy me I hateful why should I be nice to my sister - merely so she might be nice to me - I don't desire her to be nice to exist... And then when I pressed the result the answer that I got from my Father almost e'er ended upwards being "....Because I'Thousand YOUR Father, that'due south why." Now that I am older and take sons of my own, I am beginning to see the wisdom in my father's answer. A READING FROM EXODUS 20:1-17 (NIV) And God spoke all these words: "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. "You shall have no other gods before me. "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of annihilation in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow downwards to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who dearest me and go along my commandments. "You lot shall not misuse the proper noun of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. "Recollect the Sabbath mean solar day by keeping it holy. Amen When I was fifteen I envied a friend of mine - his name was Bob. Bob was allowed to do annihilation he wanted to do. Most especially, Bob could stay out late - as late every bit he wanted. They are a sign of God's care. The 10 commandments which we heard read this morning - were given by God to the people of Israel later on God delivered them from bondage in the country of Arab republic of egypt.
